Chapter 16
A michtam of David. Preserve me, O God, for I have taken refuge in you. 1 A michtam of David. Keep me, O God, for I have sought refuge in you. I have said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you." 2 To the holy ones who are in the earth, they are the majestic ones in whom are all my delights. 3 To the holy ones who are in the land, they are the majestic ones in whom are all my delights. May the sorrows of those multiply who hasten after another god! Their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. 4 Their sorrows multiply, those of others; they hasten—their libations I will not pour out from blood, and I will not bear their names upon my lips. The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; you uphold my lot. 5 Measuring ropes have fallen to me in pleasant places; indeed, a beautiful portion is mine. 6 Measuring cords have fallen to me in pleasant places; indeed, a beautiful inheritance has been allotted to me. 7 I have set the LORD before me always; because he will not be shaken from my right hand. 8 Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; moreover my flesh will dwell securely. 9 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol; you will not give your faithful one to see the pit. 10 You will make known to me a path of life, fullness of joys before your face, pleasantness at your right hand forever.
